2014 Easter Series – European Legion team announcement

This year will see the 4th edition of the Easter Series played between the AFL Academy Australian team (best 30 under 18 players from  Australia) and the European Legion. We have got closer to the Australia team each year and we are confident that this is the best squad yet meaning it was also the hardest to select so far. Congratulations to all those players selected. All players are to attended the camp from the 6th April – 13th April in Harrow, London with the main game held on 12th April. Players accommodation, food and kit will be covered for the week with an allowance for flights. Please confirm your attendance via email to info@afleurope.org by Wednesday 29th January.

ANZAC Cup 2014

2014 sees the 6th edition of the ANZAC Cup on the battlefields of Villers Bretonneux in France. Thanks to the work of previous organisers and the CNFA this event continues to grow into a real highlight on the European calendar. This years event will be held on the 25th and 26thApril with accommodation for 2 nights, dinner and 2 breakfast’s for under €60. If you want to represent Australia and are an ex-pat currently living or travelling through Europe please send us through an email explaining why this would be a special match for you to play in. Playing abilities are not the focus, we are more interested in personal connections to the area or the armed forces and the ANZAC’s special history. In the tradition of the ANZAC spirit kiwi’s are more than welcome to apply. Please send through your applications to play in a short email to info@afleurope.org by Feb 14th.

It’s Back: The Ultimate Footy Trip – Algarve 9’s

2014 will again provide an end of season event to cater for clubs, teams and players who will not be participating in the Axios Euro Cup in London. Following the success of the 2013 edition of this packaged end of season Footy trip, we’ve again teamed up with one of Europe’s premier warm weather sports resorts in the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal for AFL Europe Algarve 9s.

The Tournament
The tournament which will take place on Saturday October 18th in a blitz format (draft details Program AFL Europe Browns Algarve 9s 2014) and is open to a limited number of club or composite teams, with a maximum squad size of 15 and a minimum of 12, there will be no limit on the participation of Australian players.
