CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2016
It’s with great please that we announce the details for the 2nd annual AFL Europe Champions League! Co-hosted with the Amsterdam Devils for the second year running, this year’s Champions League will be even bigger and better!
Date: 19th – 20th March 2016
Location: Sportpark de Eendracht, Bok De Korverweg, 1067 HR Amsterdam

Transport: Make sure you book your flights/buses/trains ASAP to keep costs low – further information regarding transport in the Champions League Handbook
Format: Club not country. Winning club of each major league in our member nations invited (defer to runner-up if Premier declines invite) as well as the previous year’s Champions League winner (2015 winners – West London Wildcats). Euro Cup format and rules. 9-a-side, one day competition with group stage and finals (team numbers dependent). Winner to be crowned Club Champions of Europe. Wilcard invites may be included at the discretion of AFL Europe.
Player Eligibility: As this is a club based tournament and each league differs in their rules for Australian players, the following has been decided:
- Maximum of 4 Australian’s on the field at any one time (this will be an honor system, if necessary passports will need to be brought into play to keep the playing field fair).
- Players must have played at your club in the premiership year or be registered to play for your club in 2016.
- Maximum playing squad of 16 players (cannot be added to/swapped once the days play has begun).
- Players must be over the age of 17 (any player under the age of 18 is not permitted at the official after party).
Registration: Clubs need to confirm their attendance to Sarah Ongarello on sarah.ongarello@afleurope.org before January 15th 2016. A registration fee will be charged per participant to help cover costs of the tournament. This fee will be announced once all costs are confirmed and we have a clear indication of the number of teams attending. Registration will be through EventBrite and must be completed before the end of February.
