About
The Danish Australian Football League (DAFL) is the governing body of Australian rules football in Denmark. Founded in 1989 by Australian expats, Mick Sitch and Steve McCay, and Dane Robbie Larsen, who started playing for fun in a park in Copenhagen, the DAFL has since grown to be a nationwide association with clubs in the four major Danish cities.
The DAFL manages the national competition, the DAFL Premier League, in which four Danish teams and one Swedish team currently compete for the national championship, as well as the men’s and women’s national teams, the Denmark Vikings and Denmark Valkyries.
The main goal of the DAFL is to promote, develop and manage the sport of Australian rules football in Denmark by supporting, clubs, players, officials and communities. The DAFL also serves as a cultural bridge in Danish-Australian relations, fostering friendships between Danish natives, Aussies and everyone in between.
