PANTHERS POUNCE OVER THE REDLEGS

In Round Four of the SANH league, the Zagreb Panthers took on the Sesvete Redlegs in a big clash with the season well underway. The Panthers recorded a 24-point win but had to battle hard against the Redlegs. In sunny weather, the conditions were suitable for fast, attacking football and despite the Redlegs best efforts throughout, it was the Panthers who had more composure to get the win in the end.

Final Scores (SANH)

Women’s: Zagreb Panthers (56) defeated Sesvete Redlegs (32)

WOLVES GET ACROSS THE LINE IN CLOSE CONTEST

Over in AFLG, the Dresden Wolves battled the Zuffenhausen Giants as part of their Round Four round-robin fixture. In a see-sawing game, the Wolves managed to hold on in a relatively low scoring game as both defences performed well.  After a strong start by Dresden, the Giants managed to attack late in the game, but the Wolves held strong to record an eight-point win in a close and entertaining encounter. Both teams now have the next couple of weeks off before Round Five on the 15th of June.

Final Scores (AFLG)

Men’s: Dresden Wolves (38) defeated Zuffenhausen Giants (30)

RAMS WIN BY SMALLEST OF MARGINS

A thrilling game between the Huddersfield Rams and the Nottingham Scorpions took place in the CNE league on the weekend. In a high scoring, attacking match, the result of this game went right down to the wire, but it was the Rams who came out on top by a single point to record their first win of the season. Heading into this match, both teams were still looking for their opening win of the season and a close battle ensued with both sides fighting it out all day. In the end, the visiting side took the four-points back to West Yorkshire in a thriller.

Final Scores (Central and Northern England League)

Men’s: Huddersfield Rams (94) defeated Nottingham Scorpions (93)

LIONS FINISH IN TOP SPOT

The ALFA Lions secured top spot in the CNFA after a big win over the Paris Cockerels. Going into the last game of the season to decide who would finish where in the top 4, the Lions started strong and never looked back as they led at every break on their way to recording a 54-point win. The Cockerels had their opportunities but managed to kick 18 behinds, while only putting through six goals. The Lions attacked all day and this victory means they go into their semi-final against Stade Toulousain A having finished on top of the ladder. For the Cockerels, they will still be confident ahead of a massive semi-final against local rivals the Paris Cockatoos.

Final Scores (CNFA)

ALFA Lions (16.12.108) defeated Paris Cockerels (6.18.54)
