Giants come from behind to edge Redbacks in an AFLG thriller
In an AFLG classic, the Württemberg Giants secured a crucial victory over the Frankfurt Redbacks on Saturday in Esslingen. Needing a win to stay in touch with finals contenders in 2018, the Giants were made to work extremely hard on their way to a tough and bruising 9-point victory.
Down by five points at half-time and still trailing by a goal at three-quarter time, the Giants managed to kick 3.5 to 1.2 in the final term to claim a significant scalp at Eberhard-Bauer Stadion.
The loss for Frankfurt means that they will remain in 5th spot (percentage separating them from the four). having played the most games out of any team in the competition (8).
While for the Giants, Saturday’s result sees them now a game out of the four with a one game in hand over Frankfurt, having played seven games themselves. Württemberg will take on Munich this weekend while the Redbacks have the week off.
