PSS Presents: Around the Grounds – Socials Edition #9

Featuring the best online posts from the AFL Europe community, PSS International Removals Presents: Around the Grounds – Socials Edition.

Around the Grounds has become much of the same over the past few weeks, but for good reason! Footy clubs around Europe have been returning to training and we love to see it.

We’ve also officially reached summer, and the good weather has sprung right around the continent.

With the good weather, Stade Toulousain have been fortunate enough to be able to get outside for some team bonding.

The players shared a post from the previous weekend, hiking in the Ariège department (south-west) of France.

Port Malmo have hopped on social media for a big announcement.

The Lynx have appointed a new head coach as well as two new assistant coaches.

Congratulations to Daphny (head coach), Ben and Ben (assistants),

For those living in Hungary and interested in playing Australian Football, the AFL Hungary Facebook page have made it easier for you to learn the game!

An introductory into the game and the rules of Australian footy have been translated into Hungarian in the video below.

Check it out and give their Facebook page a like & share!

The Wimbledon Hawks held a virtual catch-up over the weekend.

Hawks players isolating across the world jumped on Zoom to compete in Wimbledon’s own global quiz night, with plenty of prizes up for grabs.

A great way to keep in touch with your teammates for a few drinks and a laugh.

You may remember seeing the Sussex Swans’ #TogetherForMahli journey that featured in Around the Grounds: Socials Edition #5 and which started at the beginning of May.

What was originally a walk/run/cycle of the distance from the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Victoria to a children’s hospital in Brisbane (where Mahli is receiving intensive treatment for cancer) has continued into a tour around Australia!

Since starting, the GoFundMe for #TogetherForMahli has raised almost $35,000 and surpassed the original 1,800km distance by over 4,000km. An inspiring effort by all involved.

Watch their Instagram video below to check out the journey so far. To donate, click here.

Swans Tour De Oz Update Week 2 Since leaving Doomadgee last Monday morning we have travelled another 1428kms: As of Sunday evening we find ourselves well and truly in the NT and, having taken the scenic route through Kakadu National Park, we have hunkered down in Mount Bundey, 166km outside of Darwin. This brings the total distance travelled in 3 weeks to 5942kms which is absolutely amazing. Well done to everyone who has clocked the kms up until now and we now look forward to getting into the western half of the country (with our wet weather gear on). #SwansTourDeOz For more information regarding #TogetherForMahli see the following links: https://www.facebook.com/brightonswans/videos/241734087045932/ https://www.gofundme.com/f/together-for-mahli?fbclid=IwAR0ZZlSrO3o7oxCGl3Viv_aG7Xs1DssQ0kReZx6M09kKt19jPvZGc33O9PQ @afl @afl_england @afleurope @afllondon @aflwomens

As part of the Sydney Swans’ ‘Ask A Swan’ series, Irishman Barry O’Connor was the latest player to jump on Instagram and answer a number of questions sent in by fans.

O’Connor was questioned on his favourite Australian food, favourite part about living in Sydney, if he was a better hurler than his dad and more!

Have a watch below.

The Delft Blues have officially held their first session back.

The Blues players (and those in the Netherlands) are allowed to resume outdoor activity should they abide the 1.5m social distancing measures.

Great work by the players at Delft and we’re loving these post-training selfies!

More teams in Germany are back to training as the Leipzig Quokkas assembled a big group for their Thursday night session last week.

The Quokkas have only recently joined Instagram so head on over to their page and give them a follow!

The team can be seen together at training in their post below.

Footy also returns in Denmark as the Farum Cats get back onto the park.

The Cats have enjoyed their first hit-out since the coronavirus outbreak and have shown off with a few slo-mo videos.

Looks like the perfect afternoon for some footy!
